Kinder Prep Program

Chrysalis Academy's Kinder Prep program is a language-rich program which uses Applied Behavior Analysis principles to teach academic, social, communication and behavior regulation skills.

Using ABA strategies, we capture the natural motivations of each child in order to increase language and participation through positive reinforcement. Through small group academic instruction we teach independent skills, following directions and classroom routines.

Students are taught in small group, center-based and circle time instruction, focusing on:

  • Communication

  • Early literacy

  • Math/Science

  • Art

  • Music

  • Sensory

  • Social & Play Skills

Through these activities, the children develop foundation skills such as cooperation, teamwork, pragmatic skills and independence.

Patricia Burrage has been working at Chrysalis Academy since 2011 but has been working in the autism field for over a decade. She started working at Chrysalis Academy as a teacher’s assistant while attending college to become an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Over the course of her employment she has received extensive mentorship and training in Applied Behavior Analysis from our team of Special Education teachers and Board-Certified Behavior Analysts. She graduated with her associates degree in Occupational Therapy in 2014 and became the Activities of Daily Living Specialist at Chrysalis Academy. During that time she worked with students of all ages within the areas of fine/gross motor, sensory and functional living skills. In 2016, she was promoted to the preschool teacher and has been working with children ages 2-6 ever since. She is very passionate about working with the early childhood autism population. She is excited to continue collaborating with the Chrysalis Academy team of professionals as the lead teacher for Chrysalis Academy’s new Kinder Prep program.
